5:00 Session 1: IBM i 7.1 Technology Refresh 6Nihal Perera

  • Speaker: Nihal Perera
    (TUG's IBM Liaison)
  • Abstract: IBM i 7.1 Technology Refresh 6 (TR 6) extends the value proposition of IBM i. New functions and features in DB2 for i improve performance and add new function. Responding to client requirements for additional mobility options, TR 6 includes support for IBM Mobile Database, Zend Server for i 6.0 and a statement of direction for providing IBM Connections and Lotus Traveler for IBM i. PowerHA SystemMirror for i now offers attachment for additional storage options. USB Flash Drives can be attached and used for data transfer and copying functions.

    In addition to supporting the new POWER7+ Servers, TR 6 addresses client requirements for additional mobility solutions, more database functionality, cost effective storage options and support for USB Flash drives, to name just a few.

7:00 Session 2: ReXX for CL Programmers

  • Abstract: Have you met REXX? Many folks haven't and don't realize that REXX and the IBM i have a lot in Common.

    REXX is the largest and most unknown programming language in the world, and like IBM i – it just works. So how come no one knows about it?

    It's time to learn a little about REXX and see what it can do for you. This introductory session will outline just what REXX is, where you can run it (almost everywhere!), how it compares to CL and RPG, the basic constructs and provide some expressions and examples running on IBM i.

    Come to this entertaining session and start down the path of becoming a true REXXpert.
