Dear TUG Community Member:

We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for TEC 2012!

TEC 2012 April 23-24

TEC is the Toronto Users Group’s annual Technical Education Conference. This year, once again, we will be conducting the event at the York University Keele Street Campus in conjunction with Seneca College. The advantage is that we have access to modern facilities including sophisticated, hands-on labs. For instance, the client images that include products such as Rational Developer and the server access includes Seneca’s ZEUS System i and  MATRIX Suse Linux cluster.

This year’s intention is to invite attendees to enhance their understanding of today’s web technology. We are organizing multiple labs and lecture sessions around beginner, intermediate, and IBM i skills and we are building upon our collaboration with leaders in the GTA Open Source, PHP, and Entrepreneur meet-ups. These instructors have been very popular with our TUG Night School offerings and, in many cases, are offering similar content. Thus, you can learn new technologies using a different time investment formula than Night School ... (You come for 2 days, instead of 8 evenings.)

The way we are organizing the TEC 2012 sessions means we have identified tracks for beginner, intermediate, or iSeries experts. If you are a beginner, who is either new from school, intending a career change, interested or experienced in iSeries but not web — we have HTML, CSS, PHP and Linux sessions for you.

If you know the basics, but want to learn more about PHP and JavaSCript we have intermediate labs and sessions for you. If you know the iSeries, but want more on use of PHP for i, SQL for i, Web Services, JavaScript for i and more…we have sessions and labs for you as well. We are also creating a separate track oriented to the entrepreneur or business manager.

Check out our schedule at www.tug.ca/tec.

We understand the economic climate well, and are offering our TEC at the lowest and most inviting price levels ever. In addition, if you register based on this email before March 23, and use the code TEC12Mar bonus code, you will receive an additional $50 discount.

Contact me if you have any questions. TEC 2012 will provide a great opportunity to mingle, understand the newest trends and directions, and skill up on cool HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and WebServices technologies.

PS. We have plenty of rooms we can use at Seneca. If there are topics that you would like to see that are not on our grid — let me know! No promise, but we might be able to add your suggested topics to the agenda.
