SPEAKER: 

Barbara Morris is the lead developer for the WDS compilers in the IBM Toronto Lab. She has been working on the RPG compilers since she started at IBM in 1989 after receiving a Computing Science degree from the University of Alberta. Her first enhancements for RPG were back in V2R1: ENDIF/ENDDO, and *ON/*OFF. Her more recent RPG enhancements have included qualified names, Java support, and XML support. Her first career was as a performing musician in Edmonton, Alberta; she still tries to find time to play cello in a string quartet.

AAG is a premier solution to integrate IBM i into any Nagios monitoring configuration. Nagios is a well-known player in the Enterprise Monitoring Solution market but has very little IBM i integration, even with the community plugins provided. At Shield Advanced Solutions we looked initially at the available plugins provided to add monitoring of the IBM i to Nagios but soon decided that an alternative approach would be required, this resulted in a new agent for the IBM i and a new plugin for Nagios."

AAG is the solution which comprises of the IBM i LPP, Nagios server and the Nagios plugin for IBM i, while NG4i is the IBM i responder application that provides the data back to AAG. NG4i is provided as an IBM LPP. Configuration of IBM i instances can be achieved in minutes using the scripts provided.

As we continue our 37th year, we are getting back to regular in-person meetings at our favourite hotels, albeit with adherence to current health guidlines. In addition to our in-person meetings evey two months, we will also conduct Zoom-only meetings each alternate month.
